A renowned doctor stated that more specific warnings regarding the use of vape pens are required as vaping becomes increasingly widespread among young Australians.
Some individuals might be under the impression that vaping is less risky than smoking cigarettes, but Dr. Nick Coatsworth of Today Medical warned that vape pens can be just as dangerous as cigarettes, and that the lack of statistics to back this because of how recent the movement is only increases the danger.
We are aware that certain nicotine delivery systems contain the ingredients that are most likely to result in issues, he said.
No matter what the makers claim, as soon as the heat necessary to transform those items into vapour is applied, aclene and aldehydes begin to form. These compounds don’t sound good because they are byproducts of cigarette smoke and are known to cause cancer.
Coatsworth warned that if kids are not given extremely specific information about the risks of vaping now, it would be too late when there are enough statistics to support them in 10 to 20 years.
The only thing that is safe to put in your lungs is air, he added, adding that there needs to be some pretty clear public health messaging.
