Quebec introduces tougher product laws aimed at the vaping business.
The health minister declared that the sale of e-cigarettes that include flavours or aromas other than tobacco will not be allowed in Quebec.
Additionally, the government will set a 20 mg/ml maximum nicotine content for all vaping products supplied in the province as of October 31.
In an effort to deter children from vaping, Health Minister Christian Dubé originally proposed changing rules pertaining to the Tobacco Control Act’s implementation in April.
On Wednesday, Dubé underlined that point, stating that the new rules are intended to shield youth from the “harmful and worrisome effects of vaping.”
Quebec will stop selling flavoured goods in an effort to reduce youth vaping
In a statement, he stated, “We will contribute to taking preventive action and reducing the pressure on our health network by improving the health of Quebecers.” “We will take responsibility for this and make sure that these substances lose their appeal to all people.”
Limiting the amount of vape liquid refill containers to 30 millilitres and the size of tanks and pods to two millilitres are two aspects of that strategy.
Additionally, Quebec will control some components of vaping products that make them more enticing to younger customers and mandate that specific information be posted on the items and their packaging.
